McDonnell's Lead Grows

Here are the numbers:

While November is still far way, Republican Governor candidate Bob McDonnell is enjoying an increase in his lead in the polls over his 3 possible opponents.
Here are the numbers:

McDonnell 45 - Deeds 30 - Und 20
McDonnell 44 - Moran 34 - Und 19
McDonnell 45 - McAuliffe 33 - Und 19

These are improving numbers for McDonnell, who led this same group of Democrats by only 3 to 9 points in a February poll. It’s also a sign that Virginia, which has been trending Democrat in the last few elections, may be turning around back to the GOP.

This is sure to be a race that is heavily played in by national party groups like the Republican and Democrat governors associations, the RNC, the DNC and large PACs and associations. If the GOP can turn Virginia from blue to red, it will be a bad omen for Obama and the Democrats.

McDonnell leads rivals in cash on hand

VA Gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell reported having over $3.5 million cash on hand, which far exceeds his rivals. In fact, that is more than Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran have combined. And nearly 3 times the amount that Creigh Deeds has. While it can be said that McDonnell has not had to spend nearly as much as his 3 oppenents yet, it should also be mentioned that McDonnell was not allowed to take in any money for over 2 months when the General Assembly was in session.

All signs are pointing towards McDonnell momentum at the moment, and if Moran and McAuliffe continue to beat up on one another, McDonnell may quietly build up a strong enough coalition that his eventual opponent might not be able to over come it.
